DSP Statement on Dangerous Speech in the Wake of the Attempt to Kill Donald Trump

The attempt to kill former President Donald Trump was awful, and all too familiar in American history. What is far too common right now is dangerous speech – rhetoric that normalizes and even encourages political violence in lieu of democracy.Every American must avoid spreading such language, and we must make a habit of calling it out, especially in our own communities and political groups. That’s more effective than focusing on the other side’s dangerous speech. We can best control ourselves, and our own.
